"기초조형은 조형예술 전반의 형상과 추상, 구성과 운동의 본질이며 원리이다"

조형예술의 역사를 통해 인간은 빛과 색, 선과 형, 공간과 구성, 운동과 물질 등의 시각적 조건을 실험해 왔다.
이 조건들은 단지 예술적인 자기표현의 기술적 차원을 넘어 시각적인 문화 패턴과 사회적인 언어체계를 결성하는
시대정신의 반영이었다.

특히 지난 20세기는 조형예술 각 분야의 독자적인 조형원리를 정립하고 실험하는 전형들을 확장하는 시기였다.
새로운 천년의 시대를 여는 오늘 인간과 예술, 문화 환경의 비전은 예술 전 분야의 조형에 대한 총합적인 관점과 해석을
요구하고 있다. 이는 조형예술의 각 장르를 관통하는 시각문법의 체계와 형태의 인식과 방법론을 공유함으로써
21세기 예술의 지평과 문화적 정체를 함께 세우기 위한 것이다.

한국기초조형학회(Korea Society of Basic Design & Art)는 이러한 세계 인식과 실천을 지향하는 학술단체로서
회화, 조각, 사진, 공예, 건축, 조경, 영상, 멀티미디어 등 2차원에서 4차원에 이르는 예술영역과 디자인 전 분야의
기초조형을 학술 및 교육, 연구의 대상으로 삼고 조형예술과 디자인의 기초과학으로서 조형의 원리와 실제,
디자인 프로세스와 방법론, 조형 형태론, 시각커뮤니케이션과 조형언어의 표의체계(Signing System),
조형적인 기술과 재료학 등을 연구할 것이다.

한국 조형예술과 디자인계의 21세기 비전과 함께 기초조형의 학문적인 입장과 태도를 밝히는 뜻으로 학회의 창립을 선언한다.

"Basic design and art is the very essence and principle of formations and abstracts, composition and kinetics in the realm of formative art"

Through the history of formative art, humans have experimented with visual conditions such as light and color, line and form, space and composition, kinetics and material.
These conditions are reflections of not only artistic self-expressions but also the zeitgeist that forms a visual cultural pattern and a social language system.

In particular, the 20th century was a time when unique principles of design and art in each field in formative art were defined, experimented and extended.
Today, as we enter into a new millenium, the vision of humans, art, and cultural environment demand a comprehensive perspective and translation of design and art across all areas of art. This is to set the boundaries of art in the 21st century and establish its cultural identity, by sharing the recognition and methodology of the system and form of visual language grammar that are present in each and every genres of formative art.

Korea Society of Basic Design & Art is an academic society that pursues and puts into practice such recognition of the world. It aims at academic researches and education on basic design and art that are used in the field of art ranging from 2 dimensional form to 4 dimensional form such as painting, sculpture, photography, craft, architecture, landscape architecture, video image and multi-media. The Society will also delve into studying the truths and principles, design process and methodology, morphology of basic design and art, visual communication, signing system of formative language, formative techniques and formative materials research as the basic science of formative art and design.

Together with the visions formative art and design have for the 21st century, and with the aim of shining light on the academic stance and attitude of basic design and art, the establishment of the Society is hereby declared.
